Childbirth Education and Preparation
Childbirth education is an important step in preparing for the arrival of your little one. Every couple should have knowledge of common labor interventions, possible complications and comfort measures. With private classes you can also take the time to explore other birthing issues in depth with an experienced doula.
Childbirth preparation classes are two-hour meetings at which we
cover a variety of topics, personalized for your needs. Meetings are held in the privacy of your
home. A minimum of two meetings is
usually required to cover basic preparation.
We will cover basics of childbirth and thoroughly discuss topics of
interest to the family.
Basic preparation includes anatomy of labor, informed
consent, common hospital procedures, when and how to avoid unnecessary
intervention, positions for labor, tried and true comfort measures, common
complications and medications.
Personalized classes are perfect for couples that want to
learn about specific topics, are on bedrest, or just can’t make the weekday
classes. They are ideal for experienced
parents looking for a refresher or for preparing a partner or friend to be
labor support . Classes are also
available for couples in early pregnancy who are interested in learning more
about home birth.
